| As reported over the weekend, Atari today released a single-player demo for upcoming first-person shooter, TimeShift. The 577MB demo includes one level for players go fight through. 577mb isn't that bad though, I mean hell, seems like a lot of demos are larger these days, especially after installing. Wasn't the FEAR demo like 1gb after install or something? FPS demos are usually the worst about taking up space, anyways. |

Fileplanet is reporting problems with the install of this demo. Looks like you have to go and rename a folder or something to get it to install correctly. I will give it a whirl when they fix the demo. |

Problem is with installshield not the damn demo, just go delete the damn file from instlalshield. |

Yes, but WHO put the whole thing together? What I am trying to say is, why does install shield work for everyone else, but you? Hmmm?

Having lagging probs, I put everything on low and it appears to have gone - own a Radeon 9800 pro 128 hmmm. Also, I can't strafe? I only can turn left and right, but no strafing? |

Eidolon,
look at SW:EaW demo. it didnt need to be that big. they just did a hack job of putting the demo together. i understand that demos arent priority so they whip together as quickly as possible. For the most part however the size of the download usually doesn't equal the content of the demo, imho. |

It looks pretty good and it plays very good on my machine (ATI x800XT, AMD 3500+, 1GB RAM). I've got almost all options on best quality. Very short demo though. The action felt a bit slow (compared to F.E.A.R which is the last game i played through).

phobia: looking at the wolfenstein network drive right now, we have 300 gigs of shit on there. There isn't a single fully put togeather level in the game. content != size. assets == size. |

Phobia: Funny you mention the EaW demo. There are a few mods for it that pretty much unlock almost everything in the full version of the game to use in the demo. They are a little buggy and can crash sometimes, but it is almost like having the full game. |

In my book too.
Downloading this now. Half a Gig is large for any file, and that's mostly going to be textures (which can only be non-lossy compressed). Doesn't really bother me though.
Btw, the F.E.A.R. demo had the same problem with the InstallShield. |
